Letter: Our church is rundown? Hardly!

It is telling that the writer of the letter describing Christ Church Sowerby Bridge as a rundown church gives a Bradford address.

A local person would know that the usually open gate gives on to a path leading up to the well-maintained building. The Vicar of Christ Church, the Rev Canon Angela Dick, and her congregation are very active in the life of Sowerby Bridge.

Sunday mornings the bells ring out a welcome to all. Tuesday and Saturday mornings community coffee mornings are held. Boxing Day 2015 Christ Church became the hub of organising the clear-up after the Calder Valley floods.

Maybe a few weeds flourish around the edge of the graveyard but our gardening group do maintain a vegetable garden around the side of the church – again for the use of all.

Christ Church, a rundown church? Hardly.
